ASHIYA CITY MUSEUM OF ART & HISTORY

This museum has both art and history exhibits.
The art wing collection has some 1,400 pieces centering on local artist Narashige Koide, Gutai Art Association artist Jiro Yoshihara, Iwata Nakayama and Kanbei Hanaya. In the history wing are numerous cultural (writings and folklore artifacts) properties from the area, academic and art works from the Ise Monogatari Scroll to the Almanac of Scenic Places in Hanshin, and artifacts from the poet Saika Tomita who is considered the gfather of culture in Hyogo Prefectureh. On the grounds, the atelier of Narashige Koide has been reconstructed as a centerpiece of the collection, with information and motifs the artists used for his creations on display.

How to get there: Take the Hankyu Bus from Hankyu Ashiyagawa, or JR or Hanshin Ashiya to Midoricho. Nearby there. About 15 minutes on foot heading southeast from Hanshin Ashiya.
